Blogger to WordPress

Filed under: Technology — mmrobins @ 8:11 am

I’ve been wanting some more features for my writing, like categorization, someplace to put extra pages like my resume, more security settings, and just being able to tinker with php. I found some really cheap hosting with afmu.com that includes both PHP and MySQL, both needed for WordPress. The hosting is free, but the domain registration is $25. You only get 75MB of storage and 1GB of bandwidth, but that should be plenty for me.

The WordPress install is really easy, but the import script that they include doesn’t import comments. I found a great script some guy named Andy Skelton wrote, along with a nice tutorial here that does import comments.

I can also do that silly thing now where I put what mood I’m in, or what book I’m reading, but I don’t know that I’ll be doing that too often.
