Dad Visits

At the Mariner’s Game

My dad visited for the weekend to go to a Mariner’s game and hang out. He got in Friday night earlier than I expected, which was great because then we could go out and have some fun. He, Kim and I went to a supposed jazz show and fundraiser for one of Eco Encore’s recipients. It must not have been publicized too well, because it didn’t start when they said it would, it was kinda empty, and there weren’t very many donations. We had a few beers and listened to some ‘jazzy’ techno kinda group.

Saturday was a lazy day, but a fun one. Since just my dad and I were going to the baseball game, Kim decided to go visit her friend Amanda in Bremerton. We watched the Big Lebowski with Jacob and took an afternoon nap before taking the bus down to the game.

Cliff and Eileen got the tickets for the game so they were sitting next to us. Jeff Harris was pitching for the Mariners and he gave up 4 runs in the first 3 innings. The game was pretty slow after that until about the 8th inning when Sexson hit a 3 run homer. It all came down to Ichiro as the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the 9th, but he struck out on a check swing to end the game.

After the game we tried to go to a few bars in Pioneer Square, but the $12 Saturday night cover was too much, so we walked until I saw Denunzios and wondered if they did late night drinks. Not only did they have a little bar, they had an old Italian guy singing. Unfortunately it was mostly karaoke, but he did play the Amore song with the guitar which was really fun. Kim got back from Bremerton and walked up from the ferry to meet us and have a few drinks.

Sunday morning I slept late again and then we went to Capitol Hill to try breakfast at a new restaurant whose name I can’t remember right now. The food was vegan, inexpensive and good though. Dad left right after that and I spent most of the rest of the day playing with network security tools.

  1. We ate at the globe cafe and filling station. And it was DELICIOUS. I’d love to work there but I don’t think I’m “hip” enough. I’d have to get into the fashions of the times, maybe then I can serve food with my new tattoes and pink hair.
