Kim and I took a little trip, just the two of us, to Lopez to camp, bike and hang out for the weekend. Kim did all the planning, which was wonderful. We got to the ferry 15 minutes early thinking that would be plenty of time since we had bikes. (more…)
Lopez Island Biking
Jacob’s Birthday
Kim and I met up with Jessie at a bar after work. I was there with a bunch of people from work to say goodbye to Mike Flohr. It’ll be a shame to see him go. He was one of the funnest people at the company. Can’t remember the name of the bar, but it’s in Freemont next to the old Redhook brewery and they have the strangest beer list I’ve ever seen. The one that really stuck out in my mind was a 9 liter bottle of beer that cost $300. I really wish we could have ordered it and have had the company pay for it. Maybe one day…
After the bar Kim and I got ready for the weekend bike trip to the San Juans and then took off for Jacob’s. We had wine and cheese and visited with Jacob and Waleska, Jesse and Deborah, Betsy and Wes and Waleska’s friend. We sat around and caught up on what other people had been doing. I miss the rowdy parties we used to have, but everyone’s too busy to get trashed and take the whole next day to recover now. Silly working lives.
Kim and I had to take off early too since we were getting up early to catch the ferry. Weekend warrior time. Silly work, forcing all the fun to the weekend.
It’s A Joy To Have Her Here
My cousin Joy from Florida visited for the weekend. (more…)
Aquasox Baseball
Jacob’s group at Boeing had a bunch of tickets for the Everett Aquasox game, so Kim and I got to go too. We showed up early to have some free food. I’m beginning to believe that free food isn’t worth it’s price. It’s usually of terrible quality and leaves me feeling worse after eating it. Hotdogs, hamburgers, soda and potato chips don’t cut it for me anymore. Eating little meat, organic vegetables and lots of home-cooked food makes if really difficult to be happy with standard mass produced food.
The food may have stunk, but the inflatable toys were awesome! Kim and I ran an obstacle course, slid down a big slide, and tried to see how far we could go while harnessed with a bunji cord. It was almost all little kids doing these events, but I think that’s just because most of the adults there were kinda boring.
The game itself was fun, but a little drawn out. We sat with Jacob and Waleska and a friend of hers. There was lots of action, but it seemed to take forever to happen. I think it’s just that I was tired. Kim and I left at the 7th inning stretch since the game had already been going for close to three hours. I guess that is a pretty long game, even for baseball.

Sarah Visits and Banya 5
One of our friends that we met at Kripalu, Sarah, is in Seattle for a medical conference so we got to hang out Friday night. We went to a happy hour downtown and then went to Banya 5 to hang out in the sauna. Afterwards we hit the happy hour at the Pink Door for some awesome pizza.
The sauna is Russian style and it’s around 210 F on the upper benches. If you really want to get hot, you can beat yourself with supple oak branches. Then you go jump in the cold dip, and then it’s on to soak in the tepid salt water pool. It’s a rush.
More Jam
This time, the berries are from our own back yard: blackberries. Kim picked the blackberries and we made more jam. We got a different kind of pectin, supposedly more natural that allowed us to use less sugar. I don’t know if it’ll taste as good though. Boiling berries is kind of a weird thing to do, but I guess it works.
Aikido Again
Kim and I went to an Aikido class at the dojo near where I work. I can’t remember the name right now, but I’m sure I’ll mention it if I continue to go there. (more…)
Audioscrobbler and Yahoo Music Engine
I just found out about a new online service called Audioscrobbler that keeps track of what music you listen to. Most music players do this now, but I think it’s much more interesting when you can view the data on the web. (more…)
